Kwan fires her coach just a few months before the Olympics.
I sure hope the coach "deserved it".
He'd only been her coach for 8 years, and now, just before the Olympics, he is dumped.
This type of behavior is not "tolerated" in the real world. In the fickle world of a hormonally driven young girl, it is a way of life.
In a true, noble, and typically male gesture, the "coach" didn't want to ruin Kwan's chance for success, and has not made a scene or caused a distraction as Kwan attempts to get the gold...all by herself.
Afterall, the coach she dumped can go out and find another young skater to nurture for 8 years and get another chance to go to the Olympics....

...you're not very happy about this are you alex?? has it disturbed you deeply?
...in the modern world of international sport, if you're not IT, you're out. But if Kwan's coach were to make a scene, there would definately be bad publicity to the coach ... so to end the inevitable situation, you may as well go with grace and dignity.

Disturbed me deeply?
How about it disturbs me deeply that women are allowed to be fickle in the name of "independence", might I add in an embarrassment of riches.
What the Female American Bobsledders did to the number one female Boblsledder appears to be about as brutal as it gets.
No one of note would partner with her, and she ended up missing the Olympics. She had done more to promote female Bobsledding in the U.S., and her reward was to be "dumped" by those who she helped train.

i fear that some athletes are just so tense and concerned with winning that they will do anything to win.
including walking over people, ruining lives etc...

Perhaps, in an effort to "make-up" for the past "injustices" that the evil white man has perpetrated on ALL other species....
It's OK for all other groups to do what they want, when they want.

true, women took all the pleasures of emancipation, but then also accept that these whimsical things are not wat a true emancipated woman should do,
it would be fun to confront them and in some way be able to sentence them to non-emancipation.
you dont want in it? fine, but then dont stay on a moral cuba and claim the best of both laws.

I think that woman do "have it made".
One odd characteristic that I have noticed is a woman can pretty much do whatever she wants, AND a support group will pop up to support her.
If a woman desires to be a lesbian, divorced, a fighter pilot, whatever she wants, an entourage will form to say "you go girl".
What DOESN'T get addressed?
What was left behind in their quest to be "independent". You know, the boring stuff, like kids, husbands, jobs, committments, promises...all the things that woman desire from their mates (skip the husbands part), yet reserve the right to modify when it comes to themselves.

Alex, you're delluded in thinking that women have it made. it's not easy and it never will be. sure men do get screwed in some instances such as affirmative action working against a guy but generally, women are not usually considered for a job until the men have been screened.
It's just accepted that women get screwed but not when men are because that's never happened historically.
